ABOUT Hunting in the Mountains
本設計核心為臺灣泰雅族狩獵文化，透過視覺設計與跨媒材整合，重構山林知識與文化價值。以《獸影》《山鋒》《山誥》《獵巡錄》四冊出版物建構知識架構，涵蓋獵物辨識、工具製作、祭儀倫理與生命觀。作品結合可操作陷阱模型延伸「入山」概念，並導入 AR 擴增實境與泰雅語語音，透過視、觸、聽覺的感官互動，以數位轉譯的手法傳承原民文化，深化學習者對山林智慧的理解。
At the heart of this design lies the hunting culture of Taiwan’s Atayal tribe. Through visual design and cross-media integration, it reconstructs traditional mountain knowledge and cultural values. The project builds a comprehensive knowledge framework through a four-book series—Beast Shadows, Mountain Blades, Mountain Teachings, and Hunting Records—covering prey identification, tool craftsmanship, ritual ethics, and philosophies of life.Extending the concept of 'entering the mountains,' the work integrates operable trap models alongside Augmented Reality (AR) and Atayal voiceovers. Through visual, tactile, and auditory interactions, this digital interpretation preserves Indigenous heritage, profoundly deepening the learner's understanding of ancestral ecological wisdom.

泰雅族擁有敏銳的自然洞察力，能透過地勢與氣候精準判斷獸徑。行獵不僅仰賴弓箭，更結合團隊協作與自然智慧，如利用地形設置陷阱，或以聲響、煙霧引導獵物。這種萬物有靈的信仰，體現於對禁忌與季節的嚴格遵守，展現「與自然共生、資源永續」的倫理。
The Atayal possess a profound understanding of nature, tracking animal paths through terrain and climate. Beyond simple archery, they employ collective wisdom and teamwork—using traps tailored to the landscape or using sound and smoke to guide prey. Rooted in animism and reverence, their adherence to taboos and seasons reflects a core ethic of symbiotic coexistence and sustainable resource management.
循著獵徑傳承狩獵文化
Tracing the Hunter's Path to Preserve the Hunting Heritage.
這是場生命巡禮。以四冊書卷作為獵人感官的延伸，挖掘「為生而獵、為靈而用」的獨特價值；透過陷阱模型的工藝復刻，將獵徑上的視覺與故事交織。每個陷阱與器物，都是在祖訓（Gaga）下淬煉而出的信物，承載土地與信仰的重託。我們邀請大眾在敬天畏地觀念中，領略泰雅族與山林共生的平衡，以及那份刻在山林摺痕裡的精神信仰與情感記憶。
This is a pilgrimage of life. Using four volumes as an extension of the hunter’s senses, we interweave the stories of Atayal hunting paths through crafted trap models. Each trap and implement is a sacred token forged under the laws of Gaga, carrying a conviction born from the land. We invite you to experience the balance of coexistence and the spiritual memories etched within the folds of the mountains.

Forest Rules and Faith
「山林」是孕育律法的根基，亦是泰雅狩獵文化與祖靈信仰的源頭。我們以狩獵文化與陷阱為切入點，彰顯傳統狩獵不可取代的獨特性。本創作將文化與獵具視為生活、生存與生命的交織，透過出版品與器具的轉化，將泰雅獵徑上的智慧，凝練成一份與土地命脈相連的山林守則。
The forest is the foundation of life and the cradle of Atayal faith. By exploring hunting culture and traps, we highlight the uniqueness of these traditions. This project weaves culture and tools into a narrative of survival and existence, transforming them into a sacred mountain code that pulse with the life of the land.

強調閱讀即入山，當四冊並置時，書脊輪廓即連綿成一座層巒疊嶂的山林地景。視覺汲取泰雅獵場的岩層、雲霧與植被肌理，以深邃色調隱喻對自然的敬畏。紙上山林象徵狩獵智慧依附於地勢而生，讀者取書的過程，猶如獵人撥草入山，在層層堆疊的地景間，揭開隱藏的狩獵技藝與生態法則。
Reading as an Ascent." When the four volumes are placed together, the silhouettes of their spines align to form a continuous mountain landscape. The visual language draws from the rock layers, mist, and flora of Atayal hunting grounds, using deep tones as a metaphor for reverence toward nature. This forest of paper symbolizes how hunting wisdom is born from the terrain. As readers pull a book from the shelf, they mirror a hunter parting the tall grass to enter the wild, uncovering hidden skills and ecological laws within the layered landscape.

用四色光譜，隱喻泰雅「彩虹橋」傳說，象徵通往祖靈的路。第一冊以綠象徵萬物棲息的山林；第二以紅體現獵具搏鬥的生命張力；第三以黑承載禁忌傳說的神秘敬畏；第四則以藍如天空俯瞰，記錄從入山到歸途的完整歷程。四冊並置，象徵獵人由生存狩獵昇華至精神回歸，完成神聖的生命循環。
The four-color spectrum serves as a metaphor for the Atayal "Rainbow Bridge," symbolizing the path to ancestral spirits. Green represents the life-teeming forest; red embodies the vital tension of the hunt; black carries the mysterious awe of sacred taboos; and blue chronicles the journey from entry to return. Together, these volumes symbolize the hunter’s ascent from survival to spiritual homecoming, completing a sacred cycle of life.

造型採用梯形形狀，暗喻為一座大山，盒子上方增設提把，方便攜帶視覺延續珍藏冊封面風格，以黑色群山為主，加上霧氣、對應內盒顏色的彩色雲霧，形成雲霧繚繞的感覺，並增添一絲神秘。
The box adopts a trapezoidal silhouette, metaphorically symbolizing a majestic mountain, and features a top handle for effortless portability. Visually, it extends the aesthetic of the collector's album cover. Centered around black mountain ranges and accented with mist and colored clouds that match the inner box, it creates a captivating, cloud-shrouded atmosphere that adds a hint of mystique.

視覺以五款陷阱模型為核心，並運用「彩色」與「黑白」雙層視覺進行對照。彩色影像傳遞原住民族熱情且充滿生命力的文化形象；黑白則勾勒出大眾對於狩獵文化的陌生、神祕以及深邃的探索視角。打開內部分為三層，依序為說明書、陷阱零件、底板/場景零件及獵物模型。
Visually, the design centers around five trap models, employing a dual-layered contrast between color and black-and-white. The vibrant colored imagery conveys the passionate and deeply vital cultural essence of Indigenous peoples. In contrast, the black-and-white elements outline the public's unfamiliarity with hunting culture, offering a mysterious and profound perspective for exploration.Upon opening, the interior is thoughtfully divided into three layers, revealing in sequence: the instruction manual, the trap components, and finally, the baseplate/scene components alongside the prey models.

本設計以泰雅狩獵為基石，轉譯「套索、坑洞、壓石、捕獸夾、踏板」五種陷阱結構，重現山林間智慧與秩序。狩獵不僅是取獵，更是與自然的深度對話。每一座陷阱，皆是族人洞悉地形、習性與規律後的智慧結晶。
Rooted in Atayal tradition, this project translates five trap structures—lasso, pit, stone press, leghold, and treadle—into models that reflect the wisdom of the forest. Beyond the harvest, hunting is a sacred dialogue with nature. Each trap is a testament to the hunters’ profound understanding of terrain, animal behavior, and the laws of the wild.

透過掃描觸發 AR 擴增實境，揭示狩獵中「看不見」的精神核心。進入獵人的祈禱與獻祭現場。藉由視覺與真實語音導引，直觀呈現神聖的祭儀細節。模型與盒子作為實體載體，重現狩獵情境的空間關係，AR則作為延伸介面，連結可見與不可見，補足其文化脈絡與精神層次。
Trigger an AR experience through scanning to reveal the “invisible” spiritual core of hunting. Step into the scene of hunters’ prayers and offerings. Guided by visuals and authentic voice narration, the sacred ritual details are presented intuitively. The model and box serve as physical carriers, reconstructing the spatial relationships of the hunting context, while AR acts as an extended interface, connecting the visible and the invisible, and completing its cultural context and spiritual dimension.
沾血
將獵具沾染血液，代表獵人已遵循 Gaga獲得了山林的認可。
Marking the hunting tools with blood represents that the hunter has adhered to the Gaga norms and received the recognition of the forest.
禱告
頭目先和祖靈說話，接著各同祖群長老代表，也跟著和祖靈說話。
The chief speaks to the ancestral spirits first, followed by the elder representatives of each kin group, who also address the spirits.
獻祭
祖靈祭的祭品是給祖先的，絕對不能吃更不帶回部落。
The offerings of the ancestral ritual are solely for the spirits. They must never be consumed, nor brought back to the village.
保存獸骨
將獵物骨骸留下或懸掛於家中，彰顯狩獵的功績外，亦是紀念獵物的生命。
Hanging the bones: a mark of a hunter's glory, and a solemn tribute to the life taken.

傳統上男子需具備英勇戰功或優異的狩獵能力，方可在額頭與下巴紋上象徵成年的榮耀印記。
Traditionally, men must prove their bravery in battle or exceptional hunting skills to earn the facial tattoos on their forehead and chin, signaling their transition to honorable adulthood.
女士紋面
Women's facial tattoos
女子須精通織布與農耕技術，並在兩頰紋上寬闊的 V 字形面紋，以此證明其具備持家與結婚的資格。
Women must master the arts of weaving and farming to receive broad, V-shaped tattoos on their cheeks, which serve as a certification of their maturity and readiness for marriage.
